Susan Settler, LMSW earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from the State University of New York at Purchase and her Master’s Degree in Social Work from the State University of New York at Albany. Susan is licensed to practice Social Work in New York.
Susan provides therapy for individuals, couples and families. Areas of specific interest include working with families and couples on relational problems, trauma, bereavement and the impact of mind-body-spirit interactions on health and wellness.
Susan understands that each person’s experiences are unique and therefore places importance on establishing individualized counseling for each client. She holds a systemic perspective, seeing how family, environment, and life experiences can all impact mental and emotional functioning. Susan feels creating a comfortable and genuine experience is necessary for change to occur. She believes the therapeutic relationship is an integral part of counseling and that counseling can be a powerful transformative process when it is driven primarily by the client, with guidance from the therapist.
